UFRES Intervention & Referral Services
The I&RS team is a school-based, problem-solving group whose purpose is to assist teachers in developing intervention strategies which will help students who are having difficulty learning. It is a regular education body that serves as a vehicle to develop or design instructional programs though collaborative problem-solving. It also can enhance existing methods of operation within the school in order to assist students with learning and/or behavior problems. Listed below are the steps to initiating an I&RS meeting.
- Teacher or parent can refer a student to the I&RS team. The teacher fills out a packet and the parent would write a letter to Mrs. Dobrowansky, Assistant Principal.
- The I&RS team meets to discuss teacher/parent concerns and to develop interventions with the classroom teacher.
- A plan is developed to address concerns with a time line to measure progress.
- A Case manager is assigned to communicate periodically with the classroom teacher to review plan and discuss student progress.
- Parents are notified that a plan has been drafted and a copy is sent to them for review. Parents are encouraged to review the plan and to communicate any questions/concerns to Mrs. Dobrowansky.
