A.H.S. Middle States Objectives for Accreditation for Growth
Objective #1: (Academic Achievement) By the year 2013, all Allentown High School students will demonstrate increased levels of academic proficiency and competencies as measured by the following:
- The percentage of grade 11 students achieving Advanced Proficient in the Language Arts section of the New Jersey High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA) will increase by 9.4 percentage points.
- The percentage of grade 11 students achieving Proficient and Advanced Proficient in the Mathematics section of the New Jersey High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA) will increase by 6.3 percentage points.
- The percentage of IEP students scoring Partially Proficient in Language Arts and Mathematics on the New Jersey High School Proficiency Assessment will decrease by 10% per year (meeting Safe Harbor per NCLB).
- The average Verbal PSAT scores for Allentown High School juniors will increase by 5%.
- The average Mathematics PSAT scores for Allentown High School juniors will increase by 5%.
- The average Verbal SAT scores for Allentown High School seniors will increase by 5%.
- The average Mathematics SAT scores for Allentown High School seniors will increase by 5%.
- The percentage of students enrolling in one or more AP classes will increase by 12% points.
- The percentage of students achieving AP scores of 3, 4, or 5 will increase by 10 percentage points.
Objective #2: (School Climate) By the year 2013, school climate at Allentown High School will improve in the following areas:
- 15% increase in the mean rating of positive indicators on the Peace Center Survey on School Safety and Climate (or equivalent survey), suggesting the perception that Allentown High School is a pleasant learning environment.
- 25% decrease in the percentage of students receiving discipline referrals for these specified infractions: class cuts, inappropriate language, leaving school without permission, disruptive behavior, defiant/disrespectful behavior and lack of cooperation.
- 25% decrease in the percentage of students involved in incidents of violence and substance abuse as tracked by the State “Violence and Vandalism Report” .
- 2% increase in the percentage of students participating in extra curricular activities (sports, clubs, theater, music).
