Dear UFRSD Families,
I hope this letter finds you enjoying a wonderful summer filled with rest, laughter, and meaningful time with loved ones. As the calendar turns to August, our entire district team is buzzing with anticipation and enthusiasm for the 2025–2026 school year. While summer offers a much-needed pause, there’s something truly special about the energy that begins to build as we prepare to welcome our students and staff back to school.
We are incredibly excited to open our doors once again and to fill our hallways and classrooms with the joy, curiosity, and spirit that make UFRSD such a remarkable place to learn and grow. Whether your child is stepping into our schools for the first time or returning to continue their journey, please know that we are ready—and honored—to support them every step of the way.
Over the last month and a half, our dedicated educators, custodial staff, administrators, and support teams have been working all summer to ensure that we are ready for an incredible year. From facility improvements and curriculum planning to professional development and new student initiatives, every effort has been made to ensure that your children have access to a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
During the 2025-2026 school year, we will embark on a journey to look at all aspects of artificial intelligence (AI) and how the use of AI can support our students, prepare them for college, the waiting world and beyond. Additionally, as you know, we are transitioning to our new student information system, Genesis, which will provide families and the district greater capability. We also expect to use our new data warehousing software to allow our staff more granularity in understanding student achievement data and what each student in their classroom may need to improve. This is just touching the surface of some of our new initiatives and improvements. Needless to say, we are so excited about the 2025-2026 school year!
As we move closer to the first day of school, please keep an eye out for important communications from your building principals, including class assignments through Genesis, schedules, and upcoming events. We can’t wait to welcome our students back with the warmth and care that define our district.
Thank you for your continued partnership and trust. The strength of UFRSD lies in the relationships between our schools, our families, and our community—and we are so grateful for the role each of you plays in that partnership.
Enjoy these final days of summer. We look forward to seeing you soon!
With great enthusiasm,
Mark Guterl
